초가는 낮다. 제주의 바람은 높은 것을 치기에, 집은 땅에 낮게 엎드린다. 군림하지
않고 깃든다.
등 굽은 사람은 돌담 안에서 오래 머문다. 담은 바람을 막지 않는다. 틈으로 바람을
흘려보내며, 그래서 무너지지 않는다.
이 그림의 사람도 자리를 차지하지 않는다. 자리의 일부가 된다.
거주는 삶의 장소가 아니라, 세계를 견디는 자세다.
그렇게 읽으면 제목이 다시 보인다. 떠난 이가 머물던 자리에, 같은 자세로 머무는 것.
그것이 추모인지도 모른다.

Under a yellow sky, a thatched house, a tree, a horse, and a figure remain in one
place.
For Heidegger, to dwell was to remain deeply in a place.
Dwelling is not merely to have a house. It is to receive the wind of that place, to
endure its rain and sun, and at last to become part of its Fūdo.
The stooped figure remains for a long time within the stone wall.
Not to occupy a place, but to become part of it.
In this painting, dwelling is not a place to live, but a posture for enduring the world.
