바람이 들판을 지운다.
길도 지우고,
발자국도 지우고,
돌아갈 방향마저 지운다.
말 한 마리가
고개를 깊이 숙인 채 서 있다.
어디로 가야 하나.
그 앞에
까마귀 한 마리가 내려앉는다.
길을 아는 새.
이승과 저승 사이를
오가던 새.
그러나 길을 가리키지 않는다.
다만 말 앞에
마주 앉는다.
답하지 않음으로써
함께 있는다.
길을 잃은 존재에게
필요한 것은
때로 길이 아니라
곁이다.
바람에 떠밀리지 않고
제자리에 서 있는 것.
그 막막한 멈춤이
이 들판에서 가능한
유일한 존엄이다.

The wind erases the field.
It erases the road,
erases the footprints,
erases even the way back.
A single horse
stands with its head bowed low.
Where is it to go?
Before it,
a crow alights.
The bird that knows the way.
The bird that once passed
between this world and the next.
Yet it does not point the way.
It only sits
facing the horse.
By not answering,
it stays with it.
To stand in place,
not driven away by the wind.
That desolate stillness
is the only dignity
possible in this field.
