마른 빛이 굽이친다.
물결인 듯,
들판인 듯,
온통 누런 결이다.
그 한가운데
말 한 마리와 사람 하나가
검은 덩이로 엉켜
서로를 붙든다.
위에는 마른 해가 떠 있다.
이 빛 아래에서는
오래 기다린 것이
움직임을 잃는다.
사람과 말은
기댄 채 굳어 간다.
떠나지 못하고,
놓지 못하고,
끝내 한 덩이의 돌이 된다.
돌이 되어서도
기다림을 거두지 못한
마음의 형상이다.
기다림이 몸보다
오래 남았다.

Across the whole image,
dry light ripples.
Like waves,
like a field,
it is all a yellowed texture.
At the center,
a horse and a person,
entwined in one black mass,
hold on to each other.
Above them hangs a dry sun.
Under this light,
what has waited too long
loses its movement.
The person and the horse,
leaning against each other, harden.
Unable to leave,
unable to let go,
they become, at last, a single stone.
Even as stone,
it is the form of a heart
that could not lay down its waiting.
