왼편 멀리
조각배 한 척.
오른편 검은 곶 끝에는
사람 하나가 서 있다.
배도 작고,
사람도 작다.
그 사이에
바다가 끝없이 놓여 있다.
부르면 닿을까.
바람이 소리를 데려간다.
손을 흔들면 보일까.
거리가 손짓을 지운다.
그러나 바다는
둘을 갈라놓는 물이 아니다.
떠난 이를 바라보는 마음과
돌아갈 곳을 잊지 않는 마음이
그 넓은 물 위에서 만난다.
닿지 못해도
같은 바다 안에 있는 것.
그것이
이 바다가 이어주는 방식이다.
떠난 사람과 남은 사람 사이에도
그런 바다가 하나씩 놓여 있다.

The whole surface
is a sea the color of dry grass.
Far to the left,
a single small boat.
At the tip of the black cape on the right,
a figure stands.
The boat is small, and the figure is small.
Between them
the sea lies without end.
But the sea
is not water that divides the two.
The heart that watches the one who has left
and the heart that does not forget where to return
meet upon that wide water.
is a sea that draws them apart,
yet in the end lets them look toward one another.
Though they cannot reach each other, to remain within the same sea —
that is how this sea holds them together.
