Form emerges through endurance; it is the mark left by endured time.

Mount Sanbang is round, and the old man's back is bent, because they have endured for so long. So too the horse's lowered neck, the thatched house lying low, and the stones in the wall leaning against one another.
The time each has endured, in its own place and way, gathers into its particular shape. As much as one endures, a shape comes into being.
Shape is not an outward appearance. It is how a being has lived for a long time, receiving the world that blew against it. Shape is the mark of time endured.
So before things bent, worn, and rounded, be quiet for a moment. It took a lifetime to make that shape.
