It is to breathe with the wind.
To bend with the tree.
To keep one's own place while watching a boat grow distant.
Solitude is not an empty place with no one in it.
It is a place where a person dwells deeply with themselves.

Byun Shi-Ji was a Korean modern and contemporary painter who treated Jeju’s Fūdo not as scenery but as a condition of existence. Through solitude, waiting, wind and the colour of dried grass, his art formed a glocal modernism rooted in Korea and open to the world.
