A single horizon line,
and on it, one boat.
That is all.
It is not empty.
It is full of silence.
Not because there was nothing more to paint,
but because there was nothing more to take away,
only a single dot remained.
Color taken away,
form taken away,
words taken away.
A single dot left
after a lifetime of taking away.
At the end of stripping away,
existence does not vanish.
Rather, in the place where it has grown smallest,
it grows deepest.
The emptiest place
is the fullest.
There,
as a single dot,
he remained.
A whole lifetime
remained that way.
