땅을 눕힌다.
나무는 기울고,
말은 몸을 세우고,
노인은 지팡이 하나로
자기 몫의 땅을 딛는다.
모두 흔들린다.
그러나 아무도
물러서지 않는다.
바람은 지나간다.
견딘 자세는 남는다.
한 생애가 지난 뒤에도
남는 것은
그 사람이 서 있던
자세다.

The wind, first of all,
lays the land down.
The tree tilts,
and the horse braces its body upright.
The old man, with a single staff,
plants himself on his own ground.
Everything sways.
But none of them steps back.
When the wind passes,
the posture that endured remains.
