The Old Pine and the Old Man

The boat is turning into a dot. Soon it will be out of sight. The old pine stands beside him and looks at the sea with him. Even so, the old man does not go into the house. Because the moment he turns away, it feels as if the boat will vanish. Because as long as he is watching, it feels as if it is still there.

Perhaps the old pine feels the same: it does not draw back its branches reaching toward the sea. The old tree and the old man know that watching is the last thread keeping that boat safe.
