태풍
Typhoon
태풍이 온다
모든 것이 달라진다
나무가 눕고
바다가 뒤집히고
하늘이 어두워진다
그러나 뿌리 깊은 것들은
눕지 않는다
한라산은 태풍 속에서도
한라산이다
화가도 그랬다
세상이 흔들릴 때
자신의 뿌리로 돌아갔다

The typhoon comes.
Everything changes.
Trees are laid flat.
The sea turns over.
The sky goes dark.
Yet what is deeply rooted
does not lie down.
Hallasan in a typhoon
is still Hallasan.
So the painter, too—
when the world shook,
he returned to his own roots.
