Path of Passing Wind

130×162cm. A major work of 1997. The most complete form of Byun Shi-Ji's language.

The path of the passing wind. There is no wind. But there are things the wind left: a bent tree, pressed grass, earth that has lost its color. This painting is a portrait of absence.

The painter was someone who painted the invisible. Within the space created by ochre sky and ink lines, we see the wind — a wind that has never yet passed.
