해신제
Ritual for the Sea God
English
Women gathered at the shore. They make offerings to the sea god. Praying for full nets, praying for safety.
This is not superstition. This is a covenant made between the sea and human beings over thousands of years. If we pay you our respects, you will care for us in return. This negotiation continues still.
Byun Shi-Ji did not paint this as religion. He painted it as life. In the place where the gestures of women and the rocks become one, nature and the human are not separate.
