서귀포의 석양
모든 것을 버리고 내려온 자가
처음으로 바라본 수평선
그 황금빛 속에서 화가는 알았다
자신이 여기 온 이유를
빛이 사라지는 것이 아니라
다른 곳으로 가는 것이다
오늘의 석양이
내일 어딘가의 일출이 되듯
화가의 서울이
제주의 황토로 돌아오듯

Sunset over Seogwipo.
The first horizon seen
by one who had abandoned everything to come here.
In that golden light, the painter understood
why he had come.
Light does not disappear—
it moves elsewhere.
As today's sunset
becomes tomorrow's sunrise somewhere,
as the painter's Seoul
returns as Jeju's ochre.
