Letter
편지. 누구에게 쓰는가.
변시지는 말년에 그림을 편지라고 불렀다. 수신인이 없는 편지. 주소를 쓰지 않는 편지. 이 섬의 바람이 전해줄 것이라고 했다.
예술은 시간을 건너는 편지다. 이 그림은 2006년에 쓰였지만, 읽히는 것은 2026년에도, 2126년에도 가능하다. 화가는 사라져도 편지는 남는다. 그리고 언젠가 누군가의 마음 깊은 곳에서 조용히 개봉된다.

A letter. To whom?
In his later years, Byun Shi-Ji called his paintings letters. Letters with no addressee. Letters with no address written. The wind of this island would deliver them, he said.
Art is a letter that crosses time. This painting was written in 2006, but can be read in 2026, or 2126. Even when the painter is gone, the letter remains. And someday, it is quietly opened in the depths of someone's heart.
