Memories by the Sea

Memories by the sea. But these memories are not sweet.

Jeju's shore is both beautiful and sorrowful. Where haenyeo staked their lives, where fishermen did not return, where the remains of April Third rest. All that history is layered on this sand.

Memory is not selective. The beautiful and the sorrowful occupy the same place. Byun Shi-Ji tried to hold all of it in a single ochre.
