Storm

Storm. The ochre trembles.

Jeju's storm is not the same as Seoul's. Seoul's storm is an unwelcome guest. Jeju's storm is part of the island. The typhoon that comes every summer is the island's annual affair — not feared, but met.

Byun Shi-Ji did not put down the brush before a storm. He held the storm. What should shake, he seemed to think, is not the painting, but the heart of the viewer.
