애련정 — 연꽃을 사랑하는 정자.
연꽃은 없다
그러나 연꽃의 자리가 있다
연못 위 고요한 빈자리가
연꽃보다 더 연꽃을 말한다
화가는 없는 것을 그렸다
피지 않은 계절을
아직 오지 않은 여름을
그리고 그것이
가장 진실한 비원이었다

Aeryeonjeong — the pavilion that loves the lotus.
There are no lotuses.
But the place for them remains.
The quiet emptiness above the pond
speaks of lotuses more than any lotus could.
The painter painted what was absent.
A season not yet bloomed.
A summer not yet arrived.
And that was
the truest Biwon of all.
