Drunken Life
취생몽사(醉生夢死)
술에 취해 살고 꿈속에서 죽는다
한때 화가는 그랬다
제주의 새 언어를 찾지 못해
일주일에 밥 한 끼도 못 먹고
술로 배를 채우던 시절
그러나 살아남았다
그리고 이 그림을 그렸다
취생몽사는 과거가 되었다
현재에서 바라보는
이미 건넌 강

Chui-saeng-mong-sa — to live drunk, to die in dreams.
The painter was once like this.
Unable to find Jeju's new language,
not eating even once a week,
filling his belly with drink.
But he survived.
And painted this.
Drunken life became the past —
a river already crossed,
seen from the present shore.
