Crow and Me
까마귀와 나
A person lying on the sand. Beside them, a crow.
The crow does not ask. Why did this happen. How did it come to this. Through its black feathers seeps a quiet heart of understanding.
During the hardest time in Jeju, when the painter wandered the shore every night unable to find a new style — the crow came. Without a word. That was enough. To be understood is not to be explained. It is to be accompanied.

모래 위에 누운 사람. 그 곁에 까마귀.
까마귀는 묻지 않는다. 왜 그러했는지. 어쩌다 그렇게 되었는지. 검은 깃털 사이로 스며드는 것은 조용한 이해의 마음이다.
화가가 제주에서 가장 힘들었던 시기, 새로운 화풍을 찾지 못해 밤마다 바닷가를 배회하던 시절 — 그때 까마귀가 왔다. 아무 말 없이. 그것으로 충분했다. 이해받는다는 것은 설명받는 것이 아니라 함께 있어주는 것이다.
